As our community continues to grow, so must our commitment to thoughtful planning, infrastructure, and quality of life. With your support, I will continue to work hard to build a town that is healthy, vibrant, and inclusive for all.

Stronger Community, Better Quality of Life

  • Develop a long-term plan for affordable housing for families, seniors, and young professionals.
  • Continue work on the all ages Wellness Centre Facility to support physical and mental health.
  • Advocate for recruiting medical professionals to improve local healthcare access.
  • Push for an increase in long-term care beds to support our aging population.

Investing in Infrastructure & Sustainability

  • Support upgrades to municipal infrastructure, including sidewalks on main thoroughfares and other areas.
  • Explore the development of a Wastewater Treatment Plant for long-term environmental health.
  • Expand the Water Treatment Facility to ensure clean and reliable water.
  • Promote responsible waterfront development that balances growth and preservation.

Economic Development & Year-Round Growth

  • Attract and encourage new business ideas and business developments in Clarenville.
  • Work closely with the Chamber of Commerce and continue to overcome challenges together.
  • Support year-round tourism to drive our local economy into areas of new growth.

Develop Long-Term Plan for Affordable Housing

  • The Town has identified two areas for housing development.
  • Funding has been approved from the Federal government under their Housing Programs to assist the town to carry out municipal infrastructure work. We are currently awaiting approval from the Province for additional funding to complete this work.  This would allow approximately 400 housing units to be constructed over the next few years.
  • Partner with Housing Developers.
  • Ensure Development Regulations are not a deterrent for developers to plan housing and commercial developments.

Continue Work on Wellness Center Facility

  • Continue discussions with the YMCA on this facility that would include a Swimming Pool, Day Care Centre, and other amenities.
  • Waiting on an approval from ACOA on an application for funding to carry out a Feasibility Study, which is the next step.
  • Explore ways to ensure that the operating costs of this Facility will not impact the taxpayers of the Town.

Health-Care Issues

  • Work with Government and NL Health Services to recruit and retain medical professionals.
  • Partner with the Faculty of Medicine at MUN.
  • Continue to make recreation grants available to medical students coming here to learn and train under professionals in their field.
  • Continue discussions with NL Health Services for an increase in long-term care beds at the Dr. Albert O’Mahony Manor. This would enable our residents who require such care to remain in the area closer to their family and friends.

Support Year-Round Tourism

  • Support groups such as Marina Association, Discovery Trails Association, Snowmobile Association, Nordic Ski Club, White Hills Resort, Clarenville Regional Tourism Association, Clarenville Regional Arts Association, and others.
  • Partner with the local Heritage Society to develop a strong sense of identity in our Town and to expand the current Museum.

Expand our Water Treatment Plant

  • With our growing Town and the age of our current Plant, have discussions with Government about the urgent need to upgrade and expand our facility.

Explore Wastewater Treatment Facility

  • Explore funding opportunities from the Federal and Provincial governments for a wastewater treatment facility.
  • Have discussions with experts in this field as to what options are available for these facilities to best serve the needs of our town.

Promote Waterfront Development

  • Partner with the local Marina Association.
  • Install sidewalks on Marine Drive
  • Place Story Boards that will outline the history of our Town.

Work with the Chamber of Commerce to attract new businesses

  • Partner with local Chamber to expand membership.
  • Ensure Town’s Regulations and By Laws are conducive to attracting new businesses.
  • Develop a Business Directory website.

Support Continuous Municipal Infrastructure:

  • Continue with the Town’s annual Road Improvement Program.
  • Install sidewalks on main thoroughfares.
  • With input from staff and residents, prepare a list of projects to be identified, prioritized, and carried out with funding received from government.
and

Ensure Clarenville remains a Provincial, National, and International Model for Age-Friendly Communities
